Motorist accuses another motorist of negligence

Car accident 03

BELLEVILLE — A motorist is suing Melissa Distler, another motorist, for alleged negligence.

Yolanda Gunzel filed a complaint on March 5 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendant breached her duty to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and prudent manner.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was traveling eastbound on Lebanon Avenue on July 24, 2016 when the defendant allegedly attempted to make a left turn and collided with her vehicle. The plaintiff allegedly sustained injuries to her neck, back, knees, shoulder, hand and wrist. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to yield the right of way, maintain a careful lookout and sound warning of her approach to avoid the collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus interest, costs and any further relief as justice may require. She is represented by James E. Beal of Rogers Sevastianos & Bante LLP in St. Louis.
