Man alleges he was exposed to asbestos while working in St. Louis

Asbestos 12

ST. LOUIS – A man alleges he developed lung cancer as a result of exposure to asbestos while employed by various companies in St. Louis and Illinois.

Jerome Stewart filed a complaint on March 21 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Advance Auto Parts Inc., Brand Insulations Inc., Navistar Inc., et al. alleging strict liability, negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that at various times during his career from 1968 to 1977 for employers in St. Louis and Illinois, he was exposed to and inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers emanating from certain products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by defendants.

The suit states that on or about May 30, 2016, he first became aware that he developed lung cancer, an asbestos-induced disease, and that the disease was wrongfully caused.

The plaintiff holds Advance Auto Parts Inc., Brand Insulations Inc., Navistar Inc., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide adequate warnings and instructions concerning the dangers of working with or around products containing asbestos fibers.

The plaintiff seeks compensatory damages of more than $25,000 and all further relief as the court deems just and equitable. He is represented by Benjamin R. Sckmickle and Matthew C. Morris of SWMW Law LLC in St. Louis.
