CDKS alleges tenant's candle caused $60,000 in property damage

ST. LOUIS – The owner of a property in University City is seeking damages from a tenant after the property was damaged by fire.

CDKS LLC filed a complaint on March 23 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Tracy Elizabeth Murray alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb 17, 2016, plaintiff's property at 6938 Raymond Avenue in University City caught fire due to defendant's carelessness in using a candle. The plaintiff alleges it suffered the loss of rental income in the amount of $3,712.50 and property damage of $60,000. 

The plaintiff holds Murray responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep watch over a burning candle.

The plaintiff seeks damages in the sum amount of $63,712.50, plus costs of the action. It is represented by Michael A. Finley of Miller & Steeno PC in St. Louis.
