Woman alleges driver failed to obey red light in St. Louis collision

ST. LOUIS – A Fairview Heights, Illinois woman alleges another driver failed to obey a red stoplight and rear-ended her vehicle.

Jean Hummel filed a complaint in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Brenda Mix alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges on May 18, 2016, she was operating a motor vehicle traveling northbound on Fourth Street at its intersection with Washington Avenue in St. Louis when an SUV driven by the defendant struck the rear of her vehicle. She alleges she sustained severe, serious and painful injuries that prevented her from attending to her usual duties and affairs. 

The plaintiff holds Mix responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to stop at a red stoplight and failed reduce speed as she approached the said intersection.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of in an amount greater than $25,000, plus costs of this action. She is represented by Deanna L. Litzenburg and Allyson Schwab of Mathis, Marifian & Richter LTD in Belleville, Illinois.
