Barnes-Jewish Hospital, others alleged to have failed to correctly diagnose woman's cancer

Medical malpractice 06

ST. LOUIS – A Swansea woman alleges her cancer was misdiagnosed.

Tiffany Baymon and Kenneth Baymon filed a complaint on April 20 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University Physicians, et al. alleging medical negligence.

According to the complaint, Tiffany Baymon was referred to the defendants in August 2016 after a biopsy pathology report indicted grade three invasive ductual carcinoma breast cancer. The suit states that the defendants did not evaluate or conduct any independent tests, and an amended report later indicated a less severe form of cancer.

"After plaintiff complete six cycles of chemotherapy treatment, defendants finally recognized their error in that they received the amended report months prior in October 2016," the suit states.

The plaintiffs hold Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University Physicians, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly review the pathology report, failed to conduct independent tests, and failed to correctly diagnose plaintiff.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages of no less than $25,000, plus costs of this action and all further relief as the court deems proper and just. They are represented by Anne Brockland and Mary Simon of The Simon Law Firm PC in St. Louis.
