ST. LOUIS – A mother alleges her son suffers from anxiety and depression after he was sexually assaulted by an employee of a residential facility.

Larrietta Roberts, as mother and next friend of Donovan Martin, filed a complaint on April 23 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against SunnyHill Inc. and Antoine Bush alleging negligent hiring, negligent infliction of emotional distress and other counts.

According to the complaint, Martin was a resident of SunnyHill, an overnight residential facility, and on April 29, 2016, he was sexually assaulted by Bush. The suit states Bush was aware of Martin's mental disability and inability to communicate verbally.

The plaintiff alleges SunnyHill knew or should have known that Bush was having inappropriate contact with residents.

The plaintiff holds SunnyHill Inc. and Bush responsible because defendant SunnyHill allegedly improperly hired and supervised Bush.

The plaintiff seeks actual damages of more than $25,000, punitive damages of more than $25,000, plus interest, costs and all further relief as the court may deem fair and reasonable. She is represented by James T. Corrigan and James D. O'Leary of O'Leary, Shelton, Corrigan, Peterson, Dalton & Quillin LLC in St. Louis.
