Man alleges collision with First Student Inc. bus caused more than $200,000 in medical expenses

Car accident 22

ST. LOUIS – A St. Charles County man alleges that his vehicle was struck by a bus and caused him to incur more than $200,000 in medical expenses.

Darey Davis filed a complaint on April 25 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against First Student Inc., FirstGroup America Inc. and Shawana Roberson, also known as Shawana Jackson, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 16, 2013, he was driving his motor vehicle traveling northbound on Goodfellow Boulevard in St. Louis when defendant Roberson, who was operating the Bluebird bus owned by defendants First Student and FirstGroup, collided with plaintiff's vehicle. He alleges he sustained serious and permanent injuries to his back, neck and spine and incurred medical expenses of $203,334.59 and lost wages of more than $1,436 because of the accident.

The plaintiff holds First Student Inc., FirstGroup America Inc. and Roberson responsible because defendant Roberson allegedly negligently drove the bus at an excessive rate of speed, failed to yield to the right of way and attempted to change lanes when it was unsafe to do so.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants, jointly and severally, in an amount greater than $25,000, plus interest, costs of this action and any further relief that the court may deem, just and proper. He is represented by William W. Hollander of Wion & Hollander PC in Brentwood.
