Consumers sue Roundup manufacturer, marketers over allegations product caused cancer

Medical malpractice 08

ST. LOUIS – Twenty-one individuals allege that they developed cancer after using an herbicide.

James Miller, Terrence Alvino, Oranuch Bax, et al. filed a complaint on May 16 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Monsanto Co., Osborn & Barr Communications Inc. and Osborn & Barr Holdings Inc. over allegations of strict liability, negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that as a result of their exposure to Monsanto's Roundup, an herbicide that contains the active ingredient glyphosate, they developed non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

The plaintiffs hold Monsanto Co., Osborn & Barr Communications Inc. and Osborn & Barr Holdings Inc., responsible because the defendants allegedly falsely represented that Roundup is safe for humans and the environment and failed to provide adequate warnings and proper directions about the dangers associated with using it.

The plaintiffs seek all damages, plus interest, attorney's fees, costs and all further relief as the court deems just and proper. They are represented by John G. Simon, Anthony G. Simon and Amy Collignon Gunn of The Simon Law Firm PC in St. Louis.
