ST. LOUIS – A minor child alleges she was injured when her school bus was struck by a public bus in St. Louis.

Wendy Francis, as next friend of Maraiah Burgess, a minor filed a complaint on June 7 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against the defendants alleging Roshawna D. Hayes and Metro St. Louis, doing business as St. Louis Transportation LLC, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 2, 2015, Burgess was injured in a bus collision between the school bus she was riding and the bus operated by defendants on Lafayette Avenue in St. Louis. The suit states the bus operated by Hayes struck a mirror of the bus that the plaintiff was on, causing the driver to apply the brakes. The suit states the abrupt stop caused her to hit her head on the railing of the seat in front of her.

The plaintiff holds Hayes and Metro St. Louis responsible because defendant Hayes allegedly negligently failed to maintain a careful lookout and failed to maintain control of the bus she was driving.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of no less than $25,000, plus interest, costs and any further relief as the court deems necessary. She is represented by Eric O. Wolfgram of Wolfgram & Associates PC in St. Louis.
