ST. LOUIS – Two individuals injured in a collision with an uninsured motorist allege their insurance company wrongfully denied their claim.

Tranicia McKinney and Tahj McKinney filed a complaint on June 13 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Young America Insurance Co. alleging vexatious refusal to pay.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Oct. 6, 2016, they were involved in a motor vehicle collision caused by Daniele Shanklin, an uninsured motorist. They allege they sustained injuries and damages for which they made a claim for uninsured motorist coverage under the policy issued to them by the defendant.

The plaintiffs allege the defendant denied their claims because of an alleged failure to give recorded statements. They allege they provided statements to the defendant's investigator.

The plaintiffs hold Young America Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly denied their claims without reasonable cause or excuse.

The plaintiffs seek actual and statutory damages, attorney's fees, costs and all further relief as the court deems fair and just. They are represented by Jeremy A. Gogel of The Gogel Law Firm in St. Louis.
