ST. LOUIS – A Madison County man alleges that he experienced two strokes after a heart surgery at St. Louis hospital.
Ronald Bock filed a complaint on July 5 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against The Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Hospital alleging medical malpractice.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 16, 2016, the defendants, by and through their employees, performed a triple coronary artery bypass surgery upon plaintiff. He alleges he experienced complications after the surgery and needed care through September 2016, which included two strokes, cranial swelling, brain stem compression and significant loss of cognitive function.
The plaintiff holds The Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Hospital responsible because defendants, by and through their employees, failed to test and to recognize that plaintiff had a patent foramen ovale and failed to appreciate the risk involved with performing the bypass with the patent foramen ovale.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $25,000, plus costs and any further relief as the court deems proper and just. He is represented by Jamie L. Boock and Nathan W. Davis of Rossiter & Boock LLC in St. Louis.
