ST. LOUIS – The surviving spouse of a man previously employed a various locations in Nebraska alleges his death was caused by exposure to asbestos during his life.
Joanne Kay Buttke, as survivor of Nathan Wayne Buttke, deceased filed a complaint on July 10 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against A.W. Chesterton Co., General Electric Co., Riley Power Inc., et al. alleging wrongful death and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that at various times during Nathan Buttke's life, he was exposed to and inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers emanating from certain products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by defendants. The suit states that on or about July 7, 2016, decedent first became aware that he developed spindle cell carcinoma, an asbestos-induced disease, and that the disease was wrongfully caused. He died from mesothelioma on July 28, 2016, the suit states.
The plaintiff holds A.W. Chesterton Co., General Electric Co., Riley Power Inc., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly intentionally included asbestos fibers in their products when they knew that it had toxic, poisonous and highly deleterious effect to human health and failed to provide adequate warnings and instructions concerning the dangers of working with or around products containing asbestos fibers.
The plaintiff seeks damages of no less than $25,000. She is represented by Laci M. Whitley of Flint Law Firm LLC in Edwardsville, Illinois.
