ST. LOUIS – An Illinois couple alleges that the husband developed asbestos-related diseases as a result to exposure to the substance during his employment at various locations in Missouri and elsewhere.
Keith Huelsman and Beverly Huelsman filed a complaint on July 6 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Borg-Warner Morse TEC Corp., Crane Co., Union Carbide Corp., et al. alleging negligence and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that at various times during Keith Huelsman's work from 1968 to 2018, he was exposed to and inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers emanating from certain products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by defendants. The suit states that on or about April 17, he first became aware that he contracted pleural mesothelioma, an asbestos-induced disease.
The plaintiffs holds Borg-Warner Morse TEC Corp., Crane Co., Union Carbide Corp., et al. responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently included asbestos fibers in their products when adequate substitutes were available and failed to provide adequate warnings and instructions concerning the dangers of working with or around products containing asbestos fibers.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensatory damages of more than $25,000, plus costs, interest and any further relief as the court deems appropriate. They are represented by Robert D. Woodard of Simmons Hanly Conroy in Alton, Illinois.
