ST. LOUIS – Ten consumers alleges their use of a brand of herbicide caused them to develop cancer.

Bartney Coats, et al. filed a complaint on July 18 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Monsanto Co., Osborn & Barn Communications Inc., and Osborn & Barn Holdings Inc.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that as a result of their exposure to Roundup, an herbicide that contains the active ingredient glyphosate, they developed Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system, or other types of cancers.

The plaintiffs holds Monsanto Co., Osborn & Barn Communications Inc. and Osborn & Barn Holdings Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly negligently manufactured and distributed Roundup with full knowledge that it was dangerous and defective and failed to provide adequate warnings and proper directions about the dangers associated with using it.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensatory and exemplary damages of no less than $25,000, plus interest, costs and any further relief as the court deems proper and equitable. They are represented by James G. Onder, W. Wylie Blair and Mark E. Berns of Onder Law LLC in St. Louis; R. Bent Wisner, Michael R. Baum, Pedram Esfandiary and Francis M. Phares of Baum Hedlund Aristei & Goldman PC in Los Angeles, California; and Michael G. Daly of Pogust, Braslow & Millrod LLC in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
