ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis consumer alleges a debt collector is attempting to collect an amount it is not entitled to collect.

Jeremiah Williamson filed a complaint on July 20 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Convergent Outsourcing Inc. alleging that the collection agency violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 7, he received a letter from the defendant attempting to collect an alleged debt that was beyond the statute of limitations. He alleges the defendant's letter fails to state that making a partial payment may revive his obligation to pay the debt in full.

The plaintiff holds Convergent Outsourcing Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly communicated a false impression of the amount of debt and attempted to collect an amount to which it is not entitled to collect.

The plaintiff seeks actual and statutory damages, release of the alleged debt, attorney's fees, costs and all further relief as the court deems just and proper. He is represented by James W. Eason of The Eason Law Firm LLC in St. Louis.
