ST. LOUIS – A consumer alleges a debt collector is attempting to collect an alleged debt owed to University of Missouri-Kansas City for a semester he never attended.

Jeremiah Williamson filed a complaint on July 20 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against General Revenue Corp. alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 9, he received a letter from defendant attempting to collect an alleged debt from the university he never attended during the semester the charges were billed.

The plaintiff holds General Revenue Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly communicated a false impression of the amount of debt and attempted to collect an amount to which it is not entitled to collect.

The plaintiff seeks actual and statutory damages, release of the alleged debt, costs, attorney's fees and any further relief as the court may deem just and proper. He is represented by James W. Eason of The Eason Law Firm LLC in St. Louis.
