ST. LOUIS – A former boilermaker and maintenance mechanic alleges he developed mesothelioma as a result of exposure to asbestos while working in Missouri.
Craig A. Goebel filed a complaint on Aug. 22 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against ABB Inc., Foster Wheeler Energy Inc., Greene Tweed & Co., et al. alleging negligence, strict liability and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that at various times during his career from 1966 to 1991 at various Missouri locations, he was exposed to and inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers emanating from certain products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by defendants. He alleges that on or about Dec. 11, 2017, he was diagnosed with mesothelioma, an asbestos-induced disease, and that the disease was wrongfully caused.
The plaintiff holds ABB Inc., Foster Wheeler Energy Inc., Greene Tweed & Co., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide adequate warnings and instructions concerning the dangers of working with or around products containing asbestos fibers and failed to test their products to determine the health hazards of asbestos.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks punitive damages of more than $25,000, plus costs and all further relief as the court may deem just and proper. He is represented by Andrew A. O'Brien, Christopher J. Thoron, Bartholomew J. Baumstark, Gerald J. FitzGerald and Adam J. Reynolds of O'Brien Law Firm PC in St. Louis.
