ST. LOUIS – The parents of a man who died after nearly drowning in a swimming pool at a casino have filed a wrongful death suit against the casino's owners.
Edward L. Harris Sr. and Deanna Harris, individually and on behalf of Edward L. Harris Jr., deceased, filed a complaint on Aug. 22 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against TEI (ES) LLC, doing business as Lumiere Place Casino and Hotels, et al. alleging wrongful death and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Aug. 12, Edward Harris Jr. was swimming at Lumiere Place Casino and Hotels' swimming pool when he was found on the shallow end of the pool, nearly drowning. The suit states he sustained severe injuries, which resulted in his death on Aug. 15.
The plaintiffs hold TEI (ES) LLC, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly breached their duties to maintain their premises reasonably safe for their invitees and failed to install and maintain safety ropes and floats, appropriate lighting and proper safety devices and equipment.
The plaintiffs seek damages of no less than $25,000, plus costs and such other just and proper relief. They are represented by Andrea McNairy and Lara L. Gillham of Brown & Crouppen PC in St. Louis.
