ST. LOUIS – A mother has filed a suit against a St. Louis hospital over her son's 2015 death.

Lessa Chross filed a complaint on Aug. 27 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against SSM Healthcare, doing business as SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 5, 2015, her son, Justin Jacquin, was admitted to defendants' hospital for treatment of pancreatitis. She alleges as a result of defendants' negligence, he suffered an anoxic brain injury, directly causing his death on Aug. 27, 2015.

The plaintiff holds SSM Healthcare responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly train and supervise its employees on how to properly monitor and maintain fluid levels for patients who had been diagnosed with pancreatitis.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of not less than $25,000, plus costs of this action. She is represented by Daniel P. Finney III of Dan 3 Finney Law LLC in St. Louis.
