ST. LOUIS – A volunteer at a St. Louis organization alleges she has lost more than $5,000 in income because of injuries she sustained when a rocking chair collapsed and injured her.

Delores Booker filed a complaint on Sept. 10 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Kingdom House alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 28, 2015, she was volunteering at defendant's facility when the rocking chair she attempted to use in the defendant's infant room suddenly collapsed and fell apart, causing her to fall on the ground. She alleges she sustained injuries to her back, hip, right knee and lower extremities as a result. At present, she alleges she has lost a total of $5,440 for being unable to return to work.

The plaintiff holds Kingdom House responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to make the premises safe by not removing defective, broken or damaged rocking chairs at its premises and failed to provide adequate warning of a known danger.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $25,000, plus interest, costs and all further relief that are appropriate. She is represented by Phillip A. Tatlow and J. Thomas Mihalczo III of Bollwerk & Tatlow LLC in Kirkwood.
