ST. LOUIS – A driver alleges he incurred several hundred thousand dollars' worth of medical expenses after a tractor-trailer collided with his vehicle in St. Louis.

Donald Eckert filed a complaint on Aug. 31 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Wallis Oil Co. Inc. and Darrin Hollandsworth alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 20, 2017, he was operating a 2000 Dodge Caravan traveling southbound on Skinker Boulevard near the intersection with Clayton Avenue in St. Louis when Hollandsworth negligently caused the tractor-trailer owned by defendant Wallis to collide with his vehicle. He alleges he sustained serious and disabling injuries to his neck, back and shoulders and incurred medical expenses of approximately $300,000 as a result of the collision.

The plaintiff holds Wallis Oil Co. Inc. and Hollandsworth responsible because defendant Hollandsworth allegedly failed to yield to the right of way and failed to maintain careful lookout and defendant Wallis is vicariously liable for the negligent actions and inactions of its employee.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $25,000, plus interest, costs and any further relief as the court deems appropriate. He is represented by Todd I. Muchnick and Aaron D. Haber of Muchnick Haber Margolis LC in St. Louis.
