ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis County man alleges his vehicle was a total loss after a driver ran a stop sign and struck his parked vehicle.

Richard Seymour filed a complaint on Oct. 10 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Katelynn Witt alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on June 6 or 7, his 1995 GMC Sierra 1500 half-ton truck was parked near the intersection of Primm and Michigan streets in St. Louis. The suit states the defendant violated a stop sign at the intersection, struck another vehicle and the struck the defendant's truck.

The plaintiff alleges his vehicle was rendered total loss with a valuation exceeding $7,500 and he was caused to expend $1,500 to rent a replacement vehicle.

The plaintiff holds Witt responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently drove her vehicle at an excessive speed, failed to stop at a stop sign and failed to maintain control of her vehicle.

The plaintiff seeks damages of $9,000, and all further relief as the court may deem proper and just. He is represented by James M. Martin of Martin, Malec & Leopold PC in St. Louis.
