ST. LOUIS – A mother and her minor children allege they were injured in a collision at a St. Louis traffic light caused by another driver who was texting.

Melissa Douglass, individually and as next friend of Moriyah Douglass, Monroe Douglass and Miykah Douglass, minors filed a complaint on Oct. 29 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Kenneth Farwell alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on July 10, the plaintiffs were in a motor vehicle traveling on East Grand Boulevard in St. Louis when the defendant rear-ended their vehicle, which was stopped at a traffic light. They allege they sustained serious personal injuries that resulted in severe pain and discomfort, medical care and treatment expenses and loss of earnings.

The plaintiffs hold Farwell responsible because the defendant allegedly carelessly texted while driving, failed to maintain a careful lookout and drove while distracted.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages of no less than $25,000, interest, costs and any further relief as the court may deem just and proper. They are represented by John M. Simon and John G. Simon of The Simon Law Firm PC in St. Louis.
