ST. LOUIS – The alleged negligence of two companies is claimed to have caused the loss of millions of gallons of water and structural damage in St. Louis.

HH St. Louis Railway LP and the city of St. Louis filed a complaint on Nov. 2 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Union Electric Co. and Intren Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 13, 2016, the defendants negligently caused the rupture of a water main that flooded buildings owned by HH St. Louis Railway and the loss of 9 million gallons of water owned by the city. The suit states a second water main break occurred in June 2017 that was a result of the first, which caused additional flooding, water loss and building damage.

The plaintiffs hold Union Electric Co. and Intren Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly breached their duties to use reasonable care when performing work related to electric transmission equipment.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages of more than $25,000, attorney's fees, costs and all further relief that the court may deem just and proper. They are represented by Jeffrey B. Hunt of Rosenblum Goldenhersh PC in St. Louis.
