ST. LOUIS – A St. Charles County resident alleges she fractured her knee in a canoe excursion led by a Riverview company.

Emily Hillerman filed a complaint on Nov. 9 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Big Muddy Adventures LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 23, 2017, she was a member of a group on a canoe excursion on the Mississippi River and was injured while exiting a canoe in an unlit area of North Riverfront Park in St. Louis. She alleges she sustained a fractured left knee, vascular injury and compartment syndrome.

The plaintiff holds Big Muddy Adventures LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate lighting, failed to supervise its customers while exiting the river and failed to warn customers of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $25,000, plus costs of this action. She is represented by Alvin A. Wolff Jr. and Alexander A. Wolff of Wolff & Wolff Trial Lawyers in St. Louis.
