Thompson Coburn LLP issued the following announcement on Dec. 4.

The International Trademark Association (INTA) has awarded Thompson Coburn Intellectual Property partner Jennifer Visintine its 2018 Volunteer Service Award for Pro Bono Services Provided by Individuals.

INTA presents the award annually to one or more individuals who have demonstrated a significant commitment to providing trademark and related intellectual property pro bono legal services during the year in support of people or organizations in need.

As a member of INTA’s Pro Bono Committee, Jennifer contributed to the creation of INTA’s Pro Bono Clearinghouse, which matches eligible clients in need of trademark legal services with INTA members who will provide these services free of charge. She led the working group responsible for developing the screening and intake process for potential clients. Since INTA introduced the clearinghouse last year, Jennifer volunteered to assist some of the initial clients in registering their marks.

“Jennifer is incredibly dedicated and helped pave the way for the clearinghouse to become a reality — and a success. Her contributions will have a domino effect for many years to come,” said INTA President Tish Berard. “Volunteers like her are essential not only to INTA’s success, but to the advancement of the field as a whole.”

INTA presented the award to Jennifer during the Association’s 2018 Leadership Meeting in New Orleans in November. In accepting the award, Jennifer said, “I am honored to have been selected for this award, and am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve on the Pro Bono Committee, assist with the development of the trademark clearinghouse and counsel pro bono clients seeking legal services through the clearinghouse and other organizations. Pro bono services are such an important part of the legal profession, and it’s exciting that INTA is providing opportunities for trademark attorneys to assist brand owners who might not otherwise have the means to protect their intellectual property.”

Jennifer’s practice focuses on helping clients build and protect their brands and other valuable IP. She received her J.D. from the University of Missouri School of Law. Jennifer ended her term on the Pro Bono Committee in 2017 and currently serves on INTA’s Internet Committee.
