ST. LOUIS – A female African-American chef has filed a suit over allegations of sex discrimination against a food management service company.

Carry M. Gilliam filed a complaint on Dec. 13 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Sodexo Registered Agent alleging violation of the Missouri Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by the defendant in October 2016. The suit states she reported a Caucasian male supervisor's sexual harassment and human resources took no action. She alleges she applied for a sous chef position and it was withheld from her in retaliation for her sexual harassment complaints. The suit states she was terminated in December 2017.

The plaintiff holds Sodexo Registered Agent responsible because the defendant allegedly retaliated against her because of her complaints of a discriminatory work environment and for speaking out against sexual harassment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of no less than $25,000, costs and interest. She is represented by Sheila R. Stuart of The Law Office of Sheila R. Stuart LLC in Clayton.
