Woman alleges Shelter Mutual Insurance refused to pay claim for uninsured motorist coverage

ST. LOUIS – A passenger injured in a St. Louis auto accident alleges an insurance company has failed to pay her claim for uninsured motorist coverage.

Tamie Pate filed a complaint on Dec. 17 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Shelter Mutual Insurance Co. alleging vexatious refusal and breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges on Aug. 24, she was a passenger in a vehicle insured by the defendant and was injured when an unidentified driver collided with the vehicle in St. Louis. 

The plaintiff holds Shelter Mutual Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to make payments for her claim for uninsured motorist coverage.

The plaintiff seeks damages in the amount of the face value of the uninsured motorist coverage of the policy, attorney's fees, costs and any further relief as the court deems fair. She is represented by Tarun B. Rana of Law Offices of Tarun B. Rana LLC in St. Louis.
