ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis woman has filed suit against several drug manufacturers over her mother's opioid-related death.

Nichole Poleski, individually and as surviving heir of Tamela Roades, deceased filed a complaint on Dec. 20 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Mallinckrodt PLC, et al. alleging medical malpractice, negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Roades was prescribed medication that had ties with the defendants. The plaintiff alleges the medication caused Roades to develop an addiction to opioids and she subsequently died from an overdose.

The plaintiff holds Mallinckrodt PLC, et al. responsible because defendant drug manufacturers allegedly carelessly and negligently researched, manufactured or sold opioid products.

The plaintiff seeks damages in a sum that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of the court and all further relief as the court deems just and proper. She is represented by Jeffrey J. Lowe, John F. Garvey, Sarah Shoemake Doles and Alyson M. Petrick of Carey Danis & Lowe in St. Louis.
