ST. LOUIS – A Metro bus passenger alleges a puddle on a step of the bus caused her to fall.

Pamela Jones filed a complaint on Jan. 9 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Bi-State Development Agency of the Missouri-Illinois Metropolitan District, doing business as Metro, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 9, 2014, she was attempting to exit defendant's No. 11 Chippewa bus when she slipped and fell in a puddle on the top step. She alleges the fall caused her to sustained injuries to her back and incur medical expenses of more than $11,000.

The plaintiff holds Bi-State Development Agency of the Missouri-Illinois Metropolitan District responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to dry, mop or remove the puddle and failed to install adequately slip-resistant covers for the steps.

The plaintiff seeks damages in an amount of more than $25,000, plus costs. She is represented by Cecil Skaggs of Central West End Law Office in St. Louis.
