ST. LOUIS - A cinematic production company wants payback in federal court after its copyrighted creative work for the 2008 film Twilight was allegedly used without permission.
The complaint was filed on May 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri by plaintiff Redux Pictures. Redux produced the iconic scene in the young adult vampire film that features main characters "Bella" riding piggyback on "Edward" leaping from tree to tree.
The production company accuses defendant Gateway Blend LLC of extracting an image from that scene without permission from the creative copyright owner and using it in an advertisement on the internet to attract customers to its movie website.
Gateway Blend is accused of copyright infringement.
The plaintiff is represented by Voytas Law LLC of St. Louis.
