A former remote employee says Centene fired her for refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19 because of her religious beliefs.

Sundee Farr filed her complaint in federal court against Centene Corporation and Centene Management Company.

According to the complaint, the companies violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Missouri Human Rights Act by discriminating against her based on her religious beliefs.

Farr, who served as the Director of Customer Service for Centene in a remote capacity, claims she was fired because of her refusal to get vaccinated against COVID-19 because of her sincerely held religious beliefs. Despite working remotely and posing no risk of transmitting or contracting the virus to colleagues or third parties, Farr was given until December 31, 2021, to become fully vaccinated. When she requested a reasonable accommodation based on her religious beliefs, it was denied, leading to her termination on February 4, 2022.

She seeks compensatory damages.
