Woman says her former teacher forced her into sexual relationship

Federal Court
School

A woman claims one of her former high school teachers forced her into a sexual relationship while she was a student.

Kiley Foster filed her lawsuit in federal court against Charles Reece, the former teacher and the Butler R-V School Board, Superintendent Darin Carter, former Butler R-V High School Principal Marci Beckley and current Principal Gregg Webb.

According to the complaint, Reece's actions occurred multiple times on school property, during FFA trips and at school-sponsored events as well as at Reece’s residences. Foster says she reported these incidents to the Bates County Sheriff's Office on March 30th, 2022. After an investigation, charges were filed against Reece in Bates and Henry counties in Missouri.

On August 18th, 2023, Reece pleaded guilty to four counts of second-degree statutory rape and two counts of sexual contact with a student. He still faces three pending counts of sexual contact with a student in Henry County.

Foster also alleges the school district and its administrators knew about Reece's predatory behavior but failed to take action to protect their students.
