A woman says negligent care at a nursing home led to her mother's dehydration and death.

Kamille Jefferson, on behalf of the estate of Mildred Jefferson, filed her lawsuit in federal court against Life Care Centers of America and United Investors LP doing business as Life Care Center of Grandview.

According to the complaint, Mildred Jefferson died from dehydration on January 3, 2023.

The suit claims the defendants failed in their duty to provide adequate care while Mildred Jefferson was under their supervision at the nursing home. The plaintiff claims the defendants' actions and business decisions directly impacted the care provided to all residents, including her mother.

Forrest Preston, a partner in both United Investors LP and Life Care Affiliates II, LP, also is named in the case, asserting his citizenship in Tennessee makes both companies citizens of Tennessee.

Kamille Jefferson seeks compensatory damages.
