Parents of a student claim a Kansas City charter school isn't providing a thorough education for their child.

Christina Owen Miller and Adam Eric Miller filed their comlaint in federal court against Academie Lafayette on behalf of their child A.C.M. The Millers allege the school has failed to provide a thorough education for their child who has been enrolled since the 2021-2022 academic year.

Despite receiving federal funding, including for special education services, the parents claim Academie Lafayette has not met its obligations under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The complaint also highlights that approximately 88% to 93% of instruction at Academie Lafayette is delivered in French from Kindergarten through eighth grade, with only 30 to 50 minutes per day dedicated to English instruction.
