Motorist accused of negligence in I-70 wreck

Car accident 01

ST. LOUIS — A motorist is suing another driver citing alleged negligence.

James Bell filed a complaint on Nov. 6 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Jeffrey Schmidt alleging that he failed to exercise due care and diligence to avoid an accident.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 4, 2016 he was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer traveling westbound on Interstate 70 when the defendant negligently caused his motor vehicle to collide with the plaintiff's vehicle. Bell allegedly sustained injuries to his head, chest, neck, shoulders and other parts of his body.

The plaintiff holds Schmidt responsible because he allegedly negligently drove his vehicle at a speed greater than reasonable, failed to yield the right of way and failed to be attentive while driving.

The plaintiff seeks damages in excess of $25,000, plus interest, costs, and any further relief as the court deems just and proper. He is represented by Steve R. Slough of The Law Office of Steve Slough in St. Louis.
