Pitbull owner accused of negligence following attack

Pitbull

ST. LOUIS — A guest in a man's home is suing him, citing negligence and premises liability, after his pitbull allegedly attacked her.

Shawna Lamb filed a complaint on Nov. 10 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Keith W. Mack Jr. alleging that he negligently disregarded her safety.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 30, 2015, she was a guest at the defendant's residence when she was attacked and bitten by his pitbull without provocation. She sustained injuries to her muscle, bones, cartilages, ligaments and other parts of her body, resulting in permanent scaring, loss of wages and medical expenses in the sum of not less than $38,869.15.

The plaintiff holds Mack Jr. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to use ordinary care to restrain the dog and failed to warn her of the unsafe condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $25,000, plus punitive damages, costs of this action, and any further relief as the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Rob Lutfiyya and Amanda Reiter of Lutfiyya Law Firm LLC in Brentwood.
