ST. LOUIS — A security officer is suing her former employers, citing alleged discrimination, hostile work environment and retaliation while working in a federal courthouse.

Katherine Henson filed a complaint on Nov. 3 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Amy and Michael Walden, d/b/a Walden Security, Metropolitan Security Services Inc., Akal Security Inc. and others alleging that they violated the Missouri Human Rights Act. Henson alleges she was subject to a hostile work environment by an administrative assistance employed by a district judge. She claims the person berated and threatened her but her employers failed to take corrective action and instead terminated her on Sept. 22, 2016.

As a result, she allegedly suffered emotional distress, mental anguish, humiliation, loss of wages and benefits,  and litigation costs and expenses.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly subjected her to severe hostility and harassment, and retaliated against her by suspending her without pay and then terminating her employment for engaging in protected activity.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; and seeks damages of more than $25,000, punitive damages, attorney's fees, costs, and any further relief that the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Jerome J, Dobson of Dobson, Goldberg, Berns & Rich LLP in St. Louis.

St. Louis Circuit Court case number 1722-CC11670
