ST. LOUIS — A visitor is suing property owners for alleged failure to properly maintain their premises.

Inez Ward filed a complaint on Dec. 1 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Compton Hill Properties LLC and Fox Grove Management LLC alleging that the defendants failed to provide ordinary care to make their premises safe for any person lawfully in the area.

According to the complaint, Ward alleges that on Feb. 21, 2015 she was lawfully on the premises at 2608 Louisiana Ave., which is owned by the defendants, when she was caused to fall on snow or ice as she walked down the steps and onto the sidewalk in front of the residence.

As a result, Ward claims she sustained damages in excess of $25,000 for medical expenses, and suffered pain and emotional distress.

The plaintiff holds Compton Hill Properties and Fox Grove Management responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to adequately shovel the snow and ice, failed to adequately salt or pre-treat the sidewalks and steps, and failed to warn, barricade and inspect the steps for snow and/or ice.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; and seeks judgment in an amount of damages greater than $25,000 for costs, and for any and all relief the court deems equitable and just. She is represented by Kyle Kleefus of the Law Offices of Derald L. Gab, PC in St. Louis.
