Former automotive maintenance provider blames illness on asbestos

Asbestos 09

ST. LOUIS — A former automotive maintenance provider who now has mesothelioma is suing Armstrong International Inc., Borg-Warner Morse TEC LLC and other entities, citing alleged negligence.

Louis A. Von Till Jr. filed a complaint on Dec. 6 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against the defendants alleging that they breached their duties to exercise reasonable care for the safety of others.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that at various times during his employment from 1947 to the 1980s, he was exposed to and inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers emanating from certain products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by the defendants. On Sept. 21, he learned that he had developed mesothelioma, an asbestos-induced disease that allegedly was wrongfully caused.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly intentionally included asbestos fibers in their products when adequate substitutes were available, and failed to provide adequate warnings and instructions concerning the dangers of working with or around products containing asbestos fibers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of $25,000. He is represented by Nate Mudd of Maune Raichle Hartley French & Mudd LLC in St. Louis.
