Passenger in I-55 crash seeks retribution

Car accident 22

ST. LOUIS — A passenger is suing Marten Transport Ltd., Allen Hensley and Albert Charles Keener, motor vehicle owner and drivers, citing alleged negligence.

Edward Riefle filed a complaint on Dec. 13 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against the defendants alleging that they failed to exercise the highest degree of care to avoid an accident.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 27, 2012 he was a passenger in a motor vehicle operated by Keener traveling southbound on Interstate 55 approaching the overpass with South Seventh Street when Hensley, who was driving a semi-truck owned by Marten, suddenly merged into the lane and caused a collision. Riefle alleges he sustained severe and permanent injuries resulting in medical expenses, pain and suffering, and disability.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for damages of more than $25,000, plus costs, and all further relief that the court deems just and proper. He is represented by Andrew L. Mandel of Mandel & Mandel LLP in St. Louis.
