Patient sues St. Louis University Hospital for negligence

Medical malpractice 09

ST. LOUIS — A patient is suing a number of local healthcare providers, citing alleged negligence.

Mark Crain filed a complaint on Dec. 14, in the St. Louis Circuit Court against St. Louis University, d/b/a SLUCARE; St. Louis University Hospital; and other healthcare providers. He alleges that they breached their duties to use the degree of skill and knowledge that other medical providers would use under the same or similar circumstances.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that as a result of defendants' negligence, numbness and dysfunction in his leg and foot may become more painful, permanent and disabling. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to properly diagnose and treat his condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an amount that is fair and reasonable under the circumstances, plus costs of this action. He is represented by Mary Coffey and Genevieve Nichols of Coffey & Nichols Attorneys at Law in St. Louis.
