ST. LOUIS — A driver is suing another motorist for allegedly losing control of his vehicle, resulting in a chain reaction of crashes.
Alfred Sykes Sr. filed a complaint on Dec. 8 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against William Spears alleging that the motorist failed his duty to operate his motor vehicle so as not to cause injury or damages to others lawfully using the public road.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 6, 2016 he was driving his motor vehicle on Interstate 70 heading westbound when his vehicle was in a collision with four other vehicles due to the defendant allegedly losing control of his vehicle.
As a result, Spears claims he sustained physical injuries requiring emergency medical care.
The plaintiff holds Spears responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep his vehicle under control, traveled at a speed in excess of what was safe considering the conditions of the road and lost control of his vehicle.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; and seeks judgment for damages and losses in excess of $25,000 for his costs expended, and for such other relief as the court may deem just and fair. He is represented by Thomas Traube of Sorrell & Traube in St. Louis.
